Just Thoughts 2

  • I took that picture a while ago and just felt like putting it in here.
  • How did September come by so quickly? Even though we say it all the time, time really does go by quickly. And, oddly enough, we’re always amazed that it does.
  • The new Sara Bareilles CD called Kaleidoscope Heart is pretty good. I’ve listened to it a few times today and it’s grown a lot on me.
  • Speaking of new songs, I bought the new Michael Buble song Hollywood without ever hearing it first.  I guess I just now trust his singles to be good. Listening to it now. Pretty upbeat. It’ll probably grow on me too.
  • Since I’m talking about music, Apple’s new social network in iTunes called Ping is an interesting concept that will either become pretty big/popular or just be seldom used and flop completely. It’s a good start, but the navigation within iTunes kind of sucks. Obviously it will improve over time with new features added. I just hope they don’t end up neglecting it for a long period of time.
  • New iPods came out last week. That new Nano is quite interesting. It’s so freaking small and they got rid of the click wheel. Guess that means that the new “leader” of the iPods is now the iPod touch with the iPod nano being a smaller version of that as opposed to the older iPod classic with its click wheel. Definitely sticking with the Nano I have now, the last of the click wheel nanos.
  • Talked a lot with my niece today and I realized that teenagers are much more interesting today than when I was one. Of course, maybe I was just boring, hehe. But really, listening to about her new school and all her friends and the way they all interact and the adventures they have made me realize that kids grow up so fast and, like every generation, they know more than the previous one did at the same age. Almost makes me wish I could have a do-over.
  • One second thought, I would not at all want to be a teen again!
  • I’m approaching the end of yet another quarter of school. These quarters go by really quickly! Only two and a half weeks left with this one. Lots to do still, but not feeling all stressed about it.
  • Had a nice time with the family over this Labor Day Weekend. It was nice to have just about everyone together! It doesn’t happen enough.
  • Speaking of get togethers, I’ve determined that a crazy and fun party is definitely needed sometime soon!
  • I bought the Blu-ray of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist a week ago and was shocked when the included digital copy didn’t work because the code expired! It was in super fine print at the bottom of the back of the box. That’s so lame. Turns out it’s something that happens with digital copies in general; they expire typically within a year of release. Maybe once the digital copy promotion is over they should remove those copies from store shelves!
  • I also purchased Kick-Ass and Sherlock Holmes on Blu-ray (both good movies, btw). I’ve decided I should finally start investing in high-def movies. I’ve had my PS3 for two and a half years now and I’ve only had one Blu-ray prior to this (The Dark Knight).
  • Looking back at my first Just Thoughts post, it seems I was drooling over the 27” iMac. I could still definitely go for one of those, though I’m starting to think maybe upgrading to a MacBook Pro instead. I always go back and forth with these things. Chances are I’ll just stick with my MacBook for a lot longer.
  • You know what other CD I’m really liking right now? Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. It’s a great album. The song that keeps sticking in my head right now is E.T. Also good is the song called Firework. The only song I don’t like is Peacock, probably because I have no desire whatsoever to see any guy’s “peacock.” Anyway, it’s one album people should definitely consider purchasing (if horribly catchy pop music is your thing that is).
  • Odd that I keep calling them “CDs” considering I buy albums off of iTunes mostly now. Occasionally I’ll buy a physical copy, and yeah I know they do sound better, but ultimately I’m just going to import them into iTunes and then put the CD on a shelf somewhere anyway.
  • Monkeys
  • Really feel like I should jump out of a plane really soon (with a parachute, of course).
  • I need to stop having dreams where I’m making out with various people. It’s weird!
  • Not to mention it makes me remember that I don’t have a girlfriend (Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!) Haha, okay, it’s really not that serious.
  • I’m loving these cooler days/nights! It makes my walks much more pleasant.
  • And on the subject of weather, I’m so looking forward to Fall (aka, my favorite season).
  • Mayor Daley announced that he’s not going to run for re-election. It’s going to be so strange having someone new as the mayor of Chicago. I’m hoping someone who isn’t too involved with the already in place machine will run and win. Chances of that happening are probably zero, though. Should be an interesting election in February.
  • Things I’m currently sick of:
  1. Any drama in all shapes and forms
  2. Procrastination
  3. Clutter (which I constantly surround myself with)
  • Things I’m not currently sick of:
  1. Ice Cream (which reminds me, I do owe one of my best friends some ice cream soon)
  2. Female Pop/Rock singers (since lately I’ve been switching between No Doubt, Katy Perry, Paramore, Kelly Clarkson, and now Sara Bareilles)
  3. My family and friends

And those are all the thoughts I have for this post.
