One day at a time – we have that ability, through cherishing each moment and rejoicing in each dream. We can experience each day anew, and with this fresh start we have what it takes to make all of our dreams come true. Each day is new, and living one day at a time enables us to truly enjoy life and live it to the fullest. – Regina Hill
The past two days have made me realize that I need to recharge myself mentally. My ability to keep myself in a peaceful place has been tested, and the past couple of days have been a mini struggle. Nothing I can’t handle, but at the same time I shouldn’t be having a harder time to begin with.
One day at a time. That’s how I’m trying to approach this week of recharging myself. In theory, I should always be in a one day at a time mindset, but, well, I’ll work on that one day at a time (HA!). I need to take this week one day at time, seeing each day as a new beginning filled with potential. I need to do what needs to be done, but not stress over it. I need to take the opportunities given to me each day and use those to improve upon myself. I need to remember that a bad day here and there doesn’t mean losing my way. And I need to keep my more hopeful and positive side present and not let the negative side come into play.
To be who you are is to be enough. To share who you are is to share enough. To do what you love is to do enough. There is no race to win and nothing to be proven, only dreams to be nurtured, a self to be expressed, and love to be shared.Never doubt your worth, and always know, without any doubt, that you are truly valued.Donna Newman
- Went to the Kelly Clarkson concert this weekend. She was AMAZING! But I have a blog post about her coming up, so I wont’ talk anymore about her here.
- Also, I still want to be friends with Matt Nathanson. He seems to be pretty down to earth. He’s pretty funny, too. Plus, I actually like his music.
- Oh, one more thing about the concert: It’s so much better being around people who actually want to be there. Last KC concert I went to, the people around us were sitting and they were not at all enthused about any of it. The people we were next to this past weekend were infinitely better and we rocking out to the songs and were so into it. So much better!
- Also, the drunk women with the electronic cigarette (up until that point, I had never seen anyone actually use one of those) was pretty amusing, too.
- I’m still undecided about this whole Kony 2012 movement. Something about it just doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe I’m being too cynical. I know there are troubles in Africa and that children are being taken away and forced to be soldiers. But it’s this particular focus on Joseph Kony that’s bugging me. He should definitely be captured and put on trial, but from various things I’ve read he hasn’t even really been all that active or powerful since 2006. He’s on the run and his current army is in the hundreds, not thousands. Again, while I do think he should be captured and punished, it just seems like there are bigger fish people could focus on now.
- One more thing about that is that it’s not an uncommon thing for the Internet to come together and want to do some big great thing, but after a while it all dies down until the next big thing. So, if they capture Kony, then what will happen? Will the Internet rise up to keep the fight going to keep bringing people to justice? Or will they feel like their mission is done and look for the next “It” cause to jump onboard with?
- I’ve become way cynical about the government and elected officials and basically anyone running the world. I don’t even want to vote in the next election because it’s all the same crap.
- The Republican candidates are terrible. Seriously awful. They aren’t going to make anything better. That leaves the option of keeping things the same, which obviously hasn’t been working, either. Therefore, the conclusion is that we’re screwed either way. And neither side will ever work together to do what’s necessary to make things better.
- I’ve seen a few people post how the Caesar implemented Leap Year back in 45BC and that the Mayans didn’t have Leap Years, so the world should have ended months ago. That’s idiotic. Seriously. The Mayan Calendar is different than the calendar we use today. They didn’t account for Leap Year because they didn’t need to. They had several different calendars and the one used for the end of the world prediction was the long count calendar, which wasn’t based off of a solar year. So that December 21st date is basically the translation from their long count calendar into what it would be for our calendar. Leap Years do not matter.
- Not that the world is going to end that day anyway. Their calendar just ends.
- Did I mention how much I loved the KC concert? BECAUSE IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!
