Day 2 of 35 – Cultivate Your Sense of Humor

Cultivate your sense of humor – Laughter hides in strange places

They say that laughter is the best medicine, and a lot of times this is true. No, it won’t cure you’re disease or make all your problems disappear. What it can do, however, is bring a smile and cheer to you when times seem tough.

The best times I’ve had in the past year involved lots of laughter. I can remember laughing about the dumbest things that, in reality, probably weren’t funny at all, but the way things were said and the people I was with made it so funny and so incredibly fun that I forgot all about the issues I was having. For that brief time I let everything go and was simply myself.

Sometimes, as hard as things are, we have to allow ourselves to laugh. We don’t need to take everything, and for that matter, ourselves, so seriously. If you make a mistake or do a stupid thing, you don’t always have to dwell and be down on yourself. Instead, laugh it off, pick yourself up, and move on. It’s not always easy or possible, but if we did it more often, perhaps things that seem too big and daunting will be brought down to a much more manageable size.

Laughter hides in strange places. We should seek it out more often.
